Control Engineering Intern
Department: Kennedy Ground Controls Branch
My experience
Overview
Tested software to simulate functionality of programmable logic controllers (PLC), interfacing with applications written in C++ and C#. Solved tedious networking and PLC hardware issues required to run the application. Wrote new unit tests and updated old ones for a software framework that had fallen behind testing standards; coded in Perl to fix broken code and write some tests myself • Updated testing suite to meet coding standards and caught bugs within the framework itself
Pros
Talented and experienced people to work with. Impactful work that gives good knowledge of the industry.
Cons
A lot of red tape. Development is really slow due to bureaucracy. Not a fast paced company. Low pay.
