United Parcel Service (UPS) is an American multinational package delivery and supply chain management company.

Started helping write Azure Data Factory pipelines from one database to another, got pulled off it. Then spent the rest of the summer making literally one Power BI report (didn’t even have a paid license so everything was done locally) with another intern - project was originally theirs and had to explain to them what they were doing. Not a good use of time or my skills.

Got assigned no work. Felt insanely underutilized and paired up with another intern for the entire summer to do a project that would’ve been reasonable for a week.

Harder to form real relationships, felt isolated a lot of the time

My main project was to reduce errors in audit forms. This meant I basically talked to the shift manager every day and told him what his people were doing wrong so they would stop making mistakes in the forms. It required no industrial engineering experience, but rather people experience by getting to known the manager really well

I was part of the XOLT APIs team which manages usage and development of the UPS APIs. My project was to build an internal monitoring tool to track hits to all the production and sandbox APIs at the webserver tier, capturing volume, response time, and status codes. I also developed UIs for existing tools.

I was in-person during Summer 2019 but went remote for most of Spring 2020. Being remote made my experience much more removed since I had less meetings and check-ins with my team. I believe post COVID they will shift back to in-person.

Worked in forecasting team for all UPS call centers across the world- mostly labor/workforce management stuff. Wrote/edited sql queries and made dashboards in excel using power pivot. Also automated some reporting in VBA and file refreshes with Python. Currently helping with reporting for working hours for different sites to make plans for new hours, due to high demand caused by coronavirus

I thought i was going to be doing demand forecasting related to supply chain/logistics of shipment but it was more related to workforce management
