My experience

Overview

Since it was a co-op, my first term was to learn the fuel supply side of Racetrac. This involved answering calls from truckers who were at fuel supply points that were out of the product we needed and giving them directions on where to pull from instead/what account to pull it from instead. It wasn't the hands-on IE experience I was looking for. I also helped fix billing issues within our system for various prices of products. It felt like a lot of busywork but I do know that subsequent semesters would have been more involved.

I was fortunate enough to find extra things to do so I could complete the rotation with a set of accomplishments, so I was able to make a good situation from it all. Metroplex is filled with super wonderful people but they are all strapped for time due to all the responsibilities everyone has. Lots of people work in Metroplex for a while because it's such an awesome group of people but they definitely are a little stressed due to the high workload and loads of money involved with large purchasing of and management of hundreds of thousands of gallons of fuel on a monthly basis.

Would recommend it to people who...

Are looking for a first internship/co-op or want to work in fuel supply

Would NOT recommend it to people who...

Are looking for challenging and engaging work
