Overview

Created performant Impala User Defined Aggregate Functions in C++ to accurately calculate percentiles and averages while accounting for incomplete data. Created requirement and design documentation for a customizable busyhour feature, then implemented it. Created requirement and design documentation for a configuration history tracking feature, then implemented it.

The internship starts off with a fair bit of onboarding. You'll go through some info sessions on the internet and the product, and once you're set up, you'll essentially be another member of whatever team you're assigned to, working on features and fixing bugs. Coworkers are friendly and encourage you to reach out if you need help.

Would recommend it to people who...

Think the internet is cool, are familiar with the command line

How did working remote affect your experience?

Workflow was very similar summer 2019 to summer 2020, but it was tough not getting to see people in person
