My experience

Overview

They mostly only hire co-ops and each co-op is put into a team of 2-3 people. Your team leader will pretty much decide how your internship goes. I did two co-op semesters and I was pretty much board most the time with very little work to do. Most of the other co-ops I spoke to had similar experiences. On average, I would actually work maybe 10 hours/week and just pretend to do work for the rest of the time. I did two co-op semesters where I mostly did basic work which includes: doing markups (edits) on autoCAD/Revit files, designing lighting layouts on Visual 2012, and any other small tasks. The best part about the co-op is getting to visit construction sites for a day to meet with the other engineers and architects. The company culture is a typical office job. Everyone is nice but the day-to-day life is quite boring which is fine for some people but not for me unfortunately. Overall, I would not recommend this job because the pay is low, you'll end up being super bored most of the time, and the work itself is quite boring.

Would NOT recommend it to people who...

Advice on how to prepare

A large part of their work involves AutoCAD and Revit, so experience with those is a big plus.
