My experience
Overview
Analyze historical Profit-Loss statements & Income Statements to underwrite them into excel. From there I would build out a forecasted proforma that took asset improvements, taxes, equity distributions, loan payments, etc into account. The end result of these models would be the end IRR and MOIC on the deal. I additionally did market research to see how macroeconomic and socioeconomic trends affected specific hotel markets and why.
Everyone there is willing to help you and ultimately guide you in your career. Many of the people I've met from my internship at HWE are references for graduate school and other job applications.

are Finance/Economics majors who are looking to learn more or get into the commercial real estate sector. HWE predominantly does business in the Hotel and multi-family spaces.
Would NOT recommend it to people who...
if you do not like excel and researching how markets react to externalities then you will not enjoy this role.

The interview process varies. I had lunch with the interviewer once and that was it. Other interns were recruited and had multiple rounds before getting an offer.
