My experience

Overview

The project that I worked on had me doing a bit of data analysis using Windows PowerShell. I manipulated CSV files to get the total number of vulnerabilities per asset of each account in CFA's AWS and filtered out assets with at least 100 vulnerabilities, as well as communicated with other DTT teams to ensure that security was being implemented throughout the company.

Since I was doing the internship remotely from California, I had the opportunity to visit Chick-fil-A's West Region Office in Irvine, CA and that was an incredible experience. I also really enjoyed the ability to schedule 30-minute meetings with anyone on staff and everyone was willing to make time to meet with me. These meetings often went over 30 minutes because of how fun they were.

Pros

Everyone is genuine and extremely kind, technology is cutting-edge, new perspective of restaurant-facing technology

Cons

Company is not known for tech

Would recommend it to people who...

have even the smallest amount of interest in cybersecurity, love developing relationships, and have a passion for technology.

Impact of work

Time spent working

How did working remote affect your experience?

Being remote made it a little bit difficult to make deeper connections and hang out with people.

Interview Rounds

Interview type

Interview questions

Given a database of email addresses, write a script that sends emails with custom messages to those email addresses - Pretty difficult since I had no experience with how to send emails using a script. Tell me about yourself. Describe your leadership experience. Describe a time when you were proud of an accomplishment. Talk about projects you have worked on related to your major.

Advice on how to prepare

Make sure you do you research and know what the company is about. Even if you don't know much about CFA, ask as many questions as you can during the interviews so you show that you're interested. I wish that when I had applied that I had known about the company values and goals much earlier.
