My experience

Overview

Worked on 2 different teams that summer. I worked on True Course to run an LDRA analysis tool and comment out false flags and worked on the Product Definition team to help work on various shop floor tasks such as Auditing Equipment to wiring an interface module from a pin-out diagram

You may get shafted with your assignment, but you have a potential opportunity to find better work. I wasn't enjoying the fact that all I was doing was commenting out false flags in our software, so I took the initiative to connect with different assignment leaders to find more work I can do in parallel. Also, due to the nature of Aviation, a 3-4 month rotation is often too short to be assignment meaningful, impactful work. Having 2 rotations would be the best choice if you want to get a great technical experience. Having only 1 rotation being really in-depth can be rare since investment/value ratio for interns isn't great in the eyes of the company. If you plan on doing multiple rotation, if you get signed out to the team repeatedly, you can also get some great technical work.

Pros

Opportunity to find good technical work.

Cons

May not get impactful work

Would recommend it to people who...

Can network to find more/better work

Impact of work

Time spent working
