My experience

Overview

My first project added logging into the main software tools used on the production line: the test and programming tools. This helped me get familiar with .NET and C# as I had no prior experience with that ecosystem. My second and last project was building out a new feature to the engine simulator software that included a dynamic chart for Delta P manipulation.

Pros

Lots of individual work where almost all the code was my own

Cons

The codebase was quite cluttered coming in as it had only been manipulated by a handful of individuals that were experienced

Impact of work

Time spent working

How did working remote affect your experience?

The internship had a hybrid schedule of virtual Monday and Friday and in-person the rest of the weekdays. It made for a beneficial experience with a good mix of both.

Interview questions

They simply asked about prior experiences. As I was coming out of my first year of college and had no previous .NET experience, they asked a lot about how I adapt to different ecosystems and such. There was no technical side; it was simply a video call interview.

Advice on how to prepare

Demonstrate interest in working in a small team of individuals where you can be a part of a fast-moving company but also one that is tight-knit.
