My experience

Overview

I mostly worked on state Infrastructure Report Cards, and then the National Report Card. Some lobbying work early on, but not once I was remote.

Would recommend it to people who...

Are interested in infrastructure policy and research, and have strong technical writing skills.

How did working remote affect your experience?

I was less connected to the office while remote. I also was given fewer tasks and had a lot more free time.

They generally asked about my past jobs and asked about how well I worked independently. It was a simple interview.

Advice on how to prepare

I wish I had known more about ASCE’s report card work, as it was the most important part of my internship.
