International Business Machines (IBM) Corporation is an American multinational technology and consulting company headquartered in Armonk, New York, with more than 350,000 employees serving clients in 170 countries.

Built a React/Node.js web application that analyzes performance trace files and displays critical information to users

My project was primarily Java based. I was tasked with deprecating an external API and integrating it with the primary application, while also enabling it to run in the correct network context and patching existing security vulnerabilities, like patching a significant Denial-of-Service (DoS) attack vector. As an intern, I didn't really expect to be able to work on something that actually gets shipped to customers. However, over the course of my 1 year as an IBM intern, I shipped roughly ~1.5k LOC to the customers of the product I worked on. 

Being virtual had very little impact on my internship experience. Executive leadership, management and my team were extremely well prepared to onboard interns remotely, and I think it went off without a hitch.

Analyzing trial usage data to help the marketing teams find people to reach out to. 

I work with a project team (so I work with two other interns on a specific intern project), and it is definitely a different feeling not being able to talk with them/my team as easily as it would have been in person. 

Worked on a COVID-19 tracking dashboard that automatically populated a databased of worldwide countermeasures by scraping the internet

All the meetings were virtual, which meant that we didn't have much face time with other interns or with our own teams

My main project was to create a web application that would help first responders. 

I worked on a 5-member remote intern team that worked with the international multi-cloud management team. I identified top-level monitoring metrics to develop custom resources that displayed a concise UI view for the Redis, Ruby, and Openshift Router runtimes. To test the custom resources, our team was tasked to set up a multi-cluster environment and determine gaps in configuration documentation. The environment also allowed us to explore the multi-cloud manager UI and find inconsistent dashboards between runtimes that needed to be fixed. This project was a steep learning curve and most of what I just described, our team completed in the last 2 weeks of our 8 week internship because we did not have any previous knowledge of Cloud systems.

I was put on an intern team where our full-times did their best to support and guide us. Our manager really tried to get to know us. I don't know if they'll stay remote.

Developed a deliverable presentation for a sales pitch for a fake client

It was still a good experience, I’m hoping it will be hybrid in the future

Wrote automated test scenarios for a Salesforce platform. Parallelized test cases to speed up runtime. Developed a kotlin app with python backend that uses WiFi tracking to tell you how busy businesses are for hackathon.
