Was assigned to create a proof of concept (POC) for a newer software that they wanted to implement. Basically I just had to show that the application would be viable and create a live demo for what the software would be like when in use. 

I worked with a team tailoring the Warehouse Management solution to a large US grocery store. I spent most of my time testing and trying to break our extensions.

I worked on a variety of internal projects for the team (that is: not client-facing). These included reporting protocols, data visualization, server alerting and monitoring, and general team organization. I was usually in at least ~10 meetings per week and frequently sat in on client calls. I did get to interface frequently with multiple project managers, our director, senior director, and vice president, which was a welcome surprise. 

Co-ops have potential to work on a variety of teams, so the job description is not super specific. I was happy with how it turned out, but I went in with few expectations. 

I worked with the Cloud Services team during my first term. I spent a lot of time working on internal projects that focused on documentation (documenting processes or new standards for the team), reporting (pulling data to create monthly reports for clients, creating daily reports to display the team's progress, etc.), and improving processes for the team. Even though I didn't work with clients due to the nature of my position, I felt that my work definitely contributed to the team! I helped improve internal processes that will help decrease the potential for error and save lots of time once implemented. These were the kinds of projects I was assigned, but I also had the opportunities to work with lots of different team members in order to learn more about what I was interested in. For example, I spent most of my time working on the professional side of my team (more client-interaction focused), but I had the chance to shadow and work with technical members to learn a little bit more about how they implement software. 

Enhanced order management software by creating an Angular application that adds custom fields to orders, helped optimize inventory management software by writing functions to use the cache to make it faster than writing to the database, some other internal tools for the developers to use. Collaborated closely with various fulltime employees who were all very helpful and friendly. Pushed code to Bitbucket. Very good internship structure, solid onboarding, weekly meetings to discuss progress with manager and other interns

Most day to day work involved administrative tasks like assigning cases to the operations team and organizing data on client accounts and software installations. I worked with the Transportation Lifecycle Management team where I created vendor accounts and also helped troubleshoot carrier issues (mostly functional) within the logistics gateway UI. I got to do some more technical projects working with the DB Administrator on automating Linux command DB tasks in Python and making a GUI that connected SQL queries for an Access DB. I also did a little work editing XMLs to upload data for carrier locations as well as SQL queries to edit vendor accounts.

I worked on a project that was building a new customer service UI for Victoria's Secret. Generally speaking, my role was to test code and submit cases that needed fixing. This involved daily phone calls with the Manhattan development team in India, daily calls with the testing supervisors at Victoria's Secret, and constant communication with the project manager regarding code breaks and errors. I arrived at  9 am and usually left around 5:15. The work environment is very relaxed overall but can vary depending on your project. I loved the people at Manhattan and the co-ops spent a lot of time together at lunch, tea breaks, etc. I asked a bunch of questions and people were always willing to help. Although submitting salesforce cases for code breaks is unexciting, it was valuable work that someone had to do. Solving new problems every day also kept the job from getting boring.

Because the job description was brief, I did not have many expectations upon accepting.
