Created software to move an outreach robot using an XBOX controller. Further worked on making sure to provide documentation and functionality. [This internship took place at Goddard Space Flight Center]

Made it more difficult to fully interact with fellow engineers.

Worked on a physical mock-up of a speaker and speaker enclosure with 3D printing, gathered audio data and simulated the speaker and enclosure in COMSOL. Helped condense and re-design some components on an existing project’s electronics. [This internship took place at Johnson Space Center]

Worked on a radiation hardened power PCB for a stack up for deep space exploration. Needed to understand SEE & TID conditions and design from start to testing. [This internship took place at Johnson Space Center.

Designed and programmed MATLAB software for data analysis related to spacecraft / robot component testing.

I worked on implementing the Beginners Guide to Aeronautics website by migrating old content to the modernized NASA WordPress Production Website. 

My internship was a rewarding experience with flexible hours. 

I designed a simulation to investigate lunar lighting and surface temperatures for the year of 2030. The simulation was built from scratch with a basic UI for camera controls and simulation run timespans.

The teams at the Kennedy Space center were VERY accommodating to virtual interns. There were events like jeopardy or family feud people could do online and I met several amazing interns.

Tested software to simulate functionality of programmable logic controllers (PLC), interfacing with applications written in C++ and C#. Solved tedious networking and PLC hardware issues required to run the application. 

Wrote new unit tests and updated old ones for a software framework that had fallen behind testing standards; coded in Perl to fix broken code and write some tests myself
•	Updated testing suite to meet coding standards and caught bugs within the framework itself


Being remote definitely diminished the experience to a certain degree, but the work being done was still very interesting

Building out and designing webpages as well as writing feature articles. I did a lot of interviewing subject matter experts and writing about research. 

Worked with data and visualized differently with different statistical methods. 
Utilized pandas and seaborn programming!

I loved the remote experience since I live in NY and I am comfortable working at home.

My main project was to test and evaluate various resin compatibility to make next generation composite materials for a lunar space suit. I did several mechanical testing, thermal stability testing, and 3D modeling.

It was an abrupt transition in the middle of the semester to a remote internship. There was not much work that was able to be done once we switched to remote.

I researched additive manufacturing methods for semiconductors and designed a PCB for wireless power transfer. 

I mostly did research (literature review) and design (PCBs). 

Worked on Artemis-related projects and worked on Power Architecture work. Overall really nice experience overall, given a COVID work tour.

Being remote definitely affected the experience, did not make as many connections or interact with co-workers as much as I would have liked. Remote work is encouraged, and mission-critical tasks allow you to go on site..

I worked on F Prime, the JPL flight software framework 

I don't think they'll continue remote after covid

Essentially focused on how different projects kept up with their money and budget. Based on these outcomes I determined if the project were on schedule with the budget or spending too much money. 

Going virtual definitely effected the experience because you don't have as much contact with mentors and team member but also provided a way to connect with different NASA centers. I do not think they will continue remote after Covid but I think they may keep some aspects that came from the remote opportunity.

Increased security of branch by securing various devices

I helped with validating the software on the Mars2020 rover. ON the day to day, I wrote python that commanded the rover in simulation then about once or twice a week I would run my code on the actual Mars2020 rover to see if it worked.

Design components in collaboration with the NASA HLS team to better serve the NASA Artemis program.

Virtual work meant mostly research and design, but no hands-on prototyping.

Hardware-in-the-loop testing utilities for the Mars 2020 mission

I also interned here remotely. It worked well.

Conducted exploratory research for upcoming antenna systems for wireless space communications. 

During my first summer there, I characterized Vacuum Arc Thrusters for CubeSat actuation. Additionally, I integrated some test hardware with a LabView program, as well as developed some components for a test bench to measure thrust.

During my second summer, I worked on ground hardware and communications, updating a PCB for a test bench. I also set up and began the integration of ground station equipment and the Mission Operations Center. Additionally, I assisted in the implementation of CCSDS communication standards and verified the functionality of one of their spacecraft radios.
