NCR Corporation, previously known as National Cash Register, is an American software, managed and professional services, consulting and technology company that also makes self-service kiosks, point-of-sale terminals, automated teller machines, check processing systems, and barcode scanners.

- Built a new integration for the order tracking system
- Re-designed a current system on the same platform

Developed an app the simulates data from external devices (like scanners, pinpads, etc) to improve dev testing workflows and for customer demos

Developed a containerized application that facilitated the process of user registration and addition to the database system

My team of interns developed a point-of-sale app for an Android device with built in barcode scanner. We started from wireframes/sketches provided by a designer and built a full PoS flow through the app.

My role was to take in large datasets and create Power BI dashboards that conveyed this data to department heads. I was involved in discussions about solutions to the problems that I uncovered while doing my data analysis, but the summer was not long enough for me to stick around and see these initiatives through.

The virtual component did not affect the internship at all. I thoroughly enjoyed the ability to work casually from home some days, and commute to the office on other days.

Made a React website to monitor information. Maintained legacy code and fixed bugs within the legacy codebase.

It was a very lengthy process to get any approval when working remote

We created a support UI to give more visibility to the data customers store using our apis. We built it from the beginning, deciding the entire structure ourselves.

Less interaction with the team compared to the other intern on the team who was in person, UR did a good job making up for it being virtual

I worked on a proof of concept for a theoretical product using mostly JavaScript, working on the backend of the project.

Led the scholarship application process for the NCR Foundation Scholarship for children of employees to go to college.

Also worked on research of COVID relief funds for the NCR Foundation to give grants to & through this, met with countless nonprofits in the Atlanta area & elsewhere to vet the nonprofits

this occurred during the Summer of 2020 so I was just excited to have a job. They did a  fine job of getting us connected with other interns & I felt like my boss & I still had great communication

Worked to create test automations and helped upgrade their database

Worked as a full-stack mobile developer creating critical features for both iOS and Android applications. Integrated the iOS application with Apple Wallet. Coordinated security reviews and design planning across two teams for the Apple Wallet feature launch

Using Google Cloud's Key Management services to encrypt/decrypt consumer secrets within an API.
Using Apigee to validate keys passed through it.

It was still somewhat connected, and I think they'll move back to in-person after COVID.

I designed a training program for the sales department using experience design techniques.

Worked on collecting and visualizing analytics data

Worked on a restful API service used by restaurants and other business clients. 

It was great. They adjusted to remote well and made sure interns still got the best guidance and experience possible.  

Develop consolidated project management resources for the global NCR community. Specifically, I created an Excel file that could be used by Project Managers to look for ways to develop their skills through LinkedIn Learning courses depending on their level of experience. Additionally, I took the existing resources used by their varying global regional project management offices and consolidated them into one set that is now consistent across the global workforce.

Myself and the other interns developed an analytics platform that would be used by customers to view information about their custom solutions such as latency, error codes ect. I also did Jira tasks that were assigned to me and were not really different than the work that the other full time engineers were doing.

This was during the summer of 2019 and there was no covid

Worked on connecting an existing web API with other parts of the codebase. Specifically, created a prototype to connect to the VISA card management API (e.g. sending the country code you plan on traveling to so your card doesn't get blocked)

Created a dashboard using Google Data Studio. It took me about a week to make, but I continued to adjust it as needed. Worked on some Social Media content.

I worked on site-reliability engineering projects.

Being remote limited communication and collaboration, and also eliminated many intern events. Otherwise, company handled covid-19 exceptionally well. 

Worked on several different projects with different products. My job was to drive the development and roadmap of these projects as well as what features were needed.

Building  models to predict customer lifetime value

Got to work with several different teams at the company and learn how processes worked across areas. Good amount of social/fun activities mixed in with the work of the internship.

Great team and boss, some great exposure to leadership, and the ability to extend a summer internship to part-time in the fall

We were given great treatment, heard from inspirational speakers, and fun events to attend. Working in their brand new global headquarters was a unique privilege and it was right next to the Georgia Tech campus so plenty of other college students were in the area. There was a lot of free time for me so I honestly wasted a few hours a day socializing, doing errands, and reading/learning on my own. There were not many networking events so this had to be mostly done solo. Most people in my department worked remotely at least 2 if not 3 days of the week (at the time I worked there) which made bonding and getting to know my team quite difficult. The work I personally was doing was boring, although other interns had more interesting things to do. I worked in Quality Assurance Automation so my job was to build an automated web tool for testing the UI of the NCR bill pay platform. My managers were distant and not super available to me, and my supervisor was helpful but still vague in directions so I was often left with more freedom in my work than I was comfortable with. Overall NCR is a great place to make friends and gain knowledge of different teams.


I had a couple of different projects that I was assigned to, some bigger than others. I was able to shadow many of my coworkers in meetings and as the summer progressed I began being active and sharing insight as well during these meetings. My boss gave me a lot of freedom in how I went about managing my time and projects. Most people were very willing to help and meet with me My projects included multiple competitive analysis research assignments, managing the online search ad platform, and assisting my mentor with her work. 

TBH there was not a job description. I felt that the work I was doing was challenging. I was given more responsibility and freedom than I expected.
