I streamlined a process to get potential suppliers into our database. I worked directly with the suppliers and got to visit some local sites. They did not let me fly out of state suppliers, so it was all local.

Working on fulfilling cyber contracts for the US government, most positions require clearance, with Top Secret being most common.

Developing an FMEA database to autonomously populate and detect severe failures within the system. Worked with team to establish reliability standards.

Provided much more flexibility but felt distant from the team sometimes

Performed materials testing in the lab, such as adhesive tests, paint tests, and composites tests. Was really just a lab tech 

Learned about Failure Mode Effects and Criticality Analyses, updated documentation for preventative maintenance software, identified deltas across different data sets.

Less hands-on/design work, more data analysis.

I worked on a GUI for satellite instrumentation devices

It was kind of boring because they didn't provide many activities for virtual interns and it was hrad to interact with other interns since there were no cameras on the laptops they sent out.

Supported the NASA Sounding Rocket Operations Contract Mechanical Eng. Department at Wallops Flight Facility
- Responsible for design and analysis of varying ground support equipment and payload flight hardware projects using SolidWorks - Assisted with mechanical testing operations of sounding rocket payloads for validation of flight worthiness
- Created technical documentation, deliverables, and procedures for mechanical systems of both payloads and rocket launchers
- Fulfilled the full duties of a Payload Mechanical Engineer on one NSROC mission payload under supervision of NSROC mentor - Supported technical projects through all stages of the sounding rocket engineering lifecycle
- Design, Drafting, Analysis, Fabrication, Test, and Integration
- Other skills learned: finite element analysis, machine shop fabrication procedures, systems engineering skills, and workplace safety

They were working on exploring ways to modernize parts of the ASIC/FPGA verification processes. I worked on exploring newly released workflows from Mathworks for verifying RTL code vs the Simulink or Matlab models of the design. I would explore the workflow given their environments, see if it was potentially workable, and record it all. We were given a lot of freedom to explore and research ourselves what workflows existed and what we should explore.

The experience was about as good as it could have been - the company adapted very quickly to expanding their secure network remote access capacity. My team probably won't continue remote unless they have to.

Observing processes and proofreading documents

Transitioning Excel bar charts into the shop floor management tool. This was a tedious task that I felt like didn't add much value to the team. I'm not sure if the team even decided to use what I produced. 

Worked on a software testing tool; created a plugin for the the software testing environment to help with test configurations|On days I wasn't working on this plugin, I helped conduct trade studies on potential software frameworks for the team
