Worked on an excel spreadsheet (was given a week to complete it, finished it in a few hours), and went over materials and client presentations with my team

Tons of down time since I was remote. I had the option of going into the office.

I documented control testing in Excel, fixed annotations in a pdf,  created tables to organize evidence in word. Resource planning and engagement economics in excel, just keeping track of people and hours in excel using data provided. Capstone project of my  intern team and a coach worked on a client’s return to work plan. 

All work was remote with option to come in person if you wanted to. More flexible and got to meet people all across the country. Less interaction with other interns unless I went in the office. 

Rotated between different engagement teams in the consulting, tax and assurance service lines. Capped off with a capstone project case study during the last week.

I took part in two engagements out of the FSO department and was given fluctuating tasks

As it would any internship, there’s no water cooler experience. But EY still did a great job at making it engaging for interns throughout the 6 weeks

For projects, I completed data input, created slide decks, created charts from Excel data, and conducted research on industries and competitors.

Remote working created a challenge of establishing strong relationship with peers and other EY professionals, but the internship encouraged everyone to network as much as possible.

I worked with two other interns on this data analysis project that really had no meaningful relation to any of the projects the group was building. I cleaned and visualized some hosting cost data in Power BI and worked on the PowerPoint for the presentation we gave  about it. I also added error logging to a feature of one of the apps the team was working on, but that was really just copying and pasting one line of code in several different places. I did a few other random tasks for that team, but they were supposed to assign me more work and didn't for reasons unknown to me.

I had 4 different client and did a range of work from copying and pasting (the boring stuff) all the way to having meetings with the controller &  CFO to discuss inventory accounts. The smaller the client, the more impactful my work was.

I was working on detailed projects in excel as well as sorting/moving documents around.

It was still a great internship being virtual. Of course, I would have preferred to be in person but the experience was still great.

We were put in a rotation among the different service lines which taught us a lot about the different lines. 

It has been an amazing experience, even with it being virtual.
