I can't say but its easy project, you are not expecting to work on something really important for the company as an intern 

Built an integration test library to test the connection between Nest device and phone app when introducing a new Nest device to your smart home.

It made it more difficult to make connections with Googlers and other interns.

Reaching out to people for help. Given an outline of what things to do for the project. Given the opportunity to try things (and fail), and examples of what my work should look like

I was in charge of researching different global campaigns we run and refining them into a single strategy. I reccomend do next countries we should pursue. 

It was a wonderful experience. Didn’t get all the in person benefits obviously but they really tried to still give you the google feel. 

I added frontend features to the Notebooks product in Vertex AI within Google Cloud Platform. (Notebooks are equivalent to Google Colab if you've heard of that.) My feature was creating a cell menu, new cell buttons, and an integration with the BigQuery API from notebook file itself.

I still enjoyed my internship. The internteam at Google hosted a ton of fun events for us weekly. I also participated in virtual coffee chats with random Google employees to meet people and make the Summer less dry.

Made a full stack internal page with several end to end features for engineers to debug certain data pertaining to the team. 

Didn’t meet as much of the team and wasn’t as smooth. Still an overall amazing experience.

Market research and presentation to senior leadership on the status of global events. Retail and market analysis. 

Predicting whether advertisers are proficient in navigating UI for conversion tracking. Used SQL, pandas, tensorflow to analyze data and train models

Used Android Studio to contribute to the front end of the YouTube android application by reorganizing the display of comments

Worked on a project focused on Taming GCL Files and developing binaries to suggest refactoring of the current file structure making these files more accessible to internal engineers and navigable through Code Search

We created a webapp similar to yelp X Google myMerchant

Gamify the onboarding process for Google Photos

Didn't really affect it that much, just sucks I couldn't redeem my massage minutes

My team had built a tool to help automate ads testings. I worked with a partner to build a dashboard to visualize the data and testing results. 

Being remote made it hard to have meaningful connections and projects. Yes, they will remain remote. 

First half was various trainings on different topics for each week. Then we transitioned to our capstone open source project as described earlier and had a series of presentations to our team and other interns across the globe.

Interns had to work on open-source projeccts that therefore weren't kept for use by Google except for thankfully my project under Google Maps which records the map's UX changes over time for designers. It was hard to connect with any interns virtually despite the significant amount of programming the intern team did. Got two rounds of merch plus some extras for other involvements which was great and made up for as much as possible for not being in the office.

Android phones try to predict which apps you want to open at any given time, and will populate the shortcut menu with those apps. My project involved rewriting some existing prediction logic using a new framework (built internally by Google). In the end, the new internal framework I was supposed to be using for this project was not very well supported. The project was not really a success, although I did lay the ground work for it to be continued in the future (once that internal framework is better developed for this purpose).

My project was to onboard YouTube Music & Premium onto a new Java + GCL framework for handling purchase eligibility rules of client teams in a configurable and performant manner.

I worked on the developer experience for using WebAssembly on Node.js. The work was very research-y (and ultimately didn't pan out to a real project), and the majority of my work involved porting the Node API to WASM. My team was awesome to work with and I also really enjoyed hanging out with some of the other interns. My day-to-day was mostly spent doing C++ programming (working on V8), but also got to enjoy some of the great dining and recreation activities at Google for at least an hour or two every day.

I really enjoyed my team and the work environment, found my work really interesting, and overall enjoyed my internship. Google is a super fun company and it offers a great balance between chill & and cool work. At the same time, I wasn't crazy about how cult-y Google can be, living in the Bay Area, and work outside my team. Specifically, I feel like trying to find a good team at a Google is a big roll of the dice and by the end of my internship my team was completely dissolved, so apart from the poor taste that left with me it means I'd have to try my luck again at finding a good team. HR was also notably pretty terrible and repeatedly messed stuff up :(

They'll have a project set up for you. You'll essentially be working towards a ""perfect"" project all internship. Each internship's actual day-to-day will depend on the project. Overall, you'll spend most days coding and/or in meetings. You'll have to attend your team's meetings because you're treated as a part of the team (with the additional support of your intern host and co-host).||Additionally, you'll have optional fun intern events. You can meet other interns and have a great time doing it! E.g. end-of-internship bay cruise, bubble soccer, etc.
